♥I'm slightly worried about the idea of a marketplace and will prolly try to avoid it. D: I spent 92% of my time on gaia lurking the mp trying stuff on, getting mad at prices, my gold count and watching my overall account worth. ofcourseiwasjustalittlesheepsthenthough.
I don't wanna be that petty about my pixels again and just wanna has fun with dress up tiem. on o //huffs
It depends on the item and how it's going to work.
If it's like a normal marketplace where you set a price and people can buy at that I think this is going to happen:
The marketplace wont be big enough to be able to use it as a price guide (like the one on Gaia) so though high end items like Emo and Berry Fairy might sell for over inflated prices, they wont "count" in the price guides so it wont really have an impact on the next sale.
Medium items will be more stabil in price and will inflate and deflate like they currently do.
Small items (that are currently impossible to get rid of, like the new Pegleg) will probably deflate because people will keep undercutting eachother in prices to get rid of them. The price guides will use those prices as reference points to bring down the inaccuratly high price guide price.
If there's a limit to how many items you can have listed I don't think it will impact the market very much. Most people will use it to put up medium items, dump small items for low prices or put up high end prices for over inflated prices (like a Pandamore for 180k) just to see if someone will buy.
If it works like an auction insted of a market place, high end items will inflate -a lot- (because questers will be willing to overpay for the item they're looking for when it's finally available). Some medium items will suddently inflate quickly in very few sales (like the Pixie Spirit), but most medium items and smaller items will deflate 'cause people need gold to buy the inflating items and the demand for the medium items will decrease.
I'm super giddy for it. I hate having to look and scour that forum for an item, and then to find one that is being sold that is either way too inflated in price or the person selling is someone I'd rather not buy from. SO YAY, MARKETPLACE. <33
As for prices, hell if I know. I know nothing of 'economics' and that crap. I just want to find stuff D:< /lazy, stupid American
It makes me uneasy, but I'm still going to give it a fair chance.
I do like that it might make items easier to find. Hell it will make it easier too in the fact that, if there is something I want and somebody i don't like taking to is selling it, I can buy it without actually talking to them. YAY!
The thing that I am paranoid about, is if the exchange forum becomes a ghost town, I'm effed! That's my home, and I'd prefer not to be forced to wander around too far outside of it >.>
lol
I'm kind of worried, honestly. Another site I'm on recently got a marketplace, and on item descriptions it provides the lowest sale price, highest sale price, and average. It causes people in the exchange forum to use it as a guide, and thus they'll say "Selling for the highest recorded price", making the exchange virtually useless, and causing extreme inflation over a dumb buy. I don't know how Ernya's community will take to it though, and what features will be implemented.
but I am looking forward to it.
If I just want to buy something and have a decent amount of gold I can just go to the market and buy. You know instead of this t/o might not sell stuff that a good amount of people do here.
But I do think it would be bad if they made hearts or other currency sell-able in the new market.
I don't hope the prices will change at all but I guess that can't be helped...
I rather wanna keep it as it is than having a marketplace, I think it's much more cozy and much less business-minded
I don't understand how it will affect prices at all. People keep saying that, but they say it as if it's an obvious given, with no evidence, explanation or theories about exactly how it will affect prices.
I don't get it.
Personaly I am looking forward to it, because I always forget to check my exchange threads and lose sales. Sometimes it's pretty nervewracking for me to have a shop open and get tons of sales all at once, or to log in after a day and see 10 orders sitting there, and each one has to be manually fullfilled.
Or even worse, the people who let thier trades sit forever. Uhg. I had more than one customer offer to buy things, I'd send them a trade immediatly after they posted and they'd take FOREVER (sometimes days) to confirm their trades even when they were on the site daily. I actually had to cancel two sales and put a new rule in my shop regarding a deadline for confirming trades.
Xiporah, I always took it to mean that it would be a lot easier to artificially inflate stuff and make encourages more people to make gold via vending since you skip most of the interaction. Otherwise, I'm not sure.
I don't have huge amounts to say about it so far though... I do like the idea. Using the MP on Gaia was more to my speed anyway.
Prices will go down and up, that's just how it's going to be. It may be unstable for the first day or so but things will even out. I think the reason prices might change is because the marketplace will show how many people are actually selling so and so item without everyone lurking a bunch of threads to find out. /shrugs But, it probably won't be anything dramatic as most people are making it out to be.
A MP doesn't mean prices are going to be just like Gaia's, I have no idea why so many people think that lol. Sure people will vend the MP but people vend now, too.
The Exchange will slow down, I'll still be in there, I'll still sell some items in the Exchange and sell some in the MP, but I'll mostly buy in the MP unless I can find it cheaper in the Exchange :U
But yeah, I'm super excited for the MP feature! I've been waiting for it for awhile now and so happy that we will be getting it c:
I cant wait for it.
We all know they dont want to become like the other sites, so it'll be interesting to see how they're putting Ernya into its own direction, and it'll be interesting to see how they will try to prevent inflation by altering the marketplace to prevent that.
I hope that the marketplace will help to regulate prices. n w n;
I guess whether an item's price goes up or down depends on the item itself? ouo;
I just hope that the Exchange doesn't die because of the marketplace, is all.
I love the Exchange, but I probably won't take the time to look for deals with a
new marketplace around. c;
