Relatively speaking, Skyrim has fewer glitches/bugs on release than it's predecessors. It's definately playable across all platforms. Besides this, because of the developments of online capabilities on ALL platforms, patching is both easier and more likely.
TES series shines on PC due to the modding that can occur. Even without the Creation Kit (which will be released alongside Patch 1.4) some great mods have already been made/begun development. These mods may also be a possibility for consoles in the future, seeing as how it's been announced that Steam will host some mods for the PC version(mod sites like SkyrimNexus can still be used, getting mods through Steam isn't going to be mandatory).
The modding community also has the ability to make fanmade patches that fix bugs and glitches. You should at least keep an eye on it as the years go by, if only because of the mods.
