2NE1 ROCKS!!!!
My all-time favorite book is called a Demon Haunted World, Using Science as a Candle in the Dark by Carl Sagan. It is wonderfully written and provides a refreshing perspective on critical thought and inquiry.

I have read Carl Sagan before.
That is a great recommendation, thanks

The Silver Kiss
By Annette Curtis Klause

A very sad story from both characters, human and vampire. It is one of my favorites and I have read it a few times! A bit of a short read but I enjoy it so I hope you give it a try.

A favorite book of mine that I highly recommend is a book called "a child called IT". It is non-fiction and it is a very sad and moving book definitely. It could make anyone cry and I think everyone should read it at least once! ((In my own words)) It is about the Authors childhood and how his life drastically changed from a perfect childhood ((that anyone would want)) into a nightmare.

"Deidara, your daddy must have been a terrorist because baby, you Da bomb!"
"You've been a bad boy Tobi, go to my room!!!"
Lady: I actually read The
Silver Kiss
it was good.

Kuma: I know that book, I've always looked at it to read, but just the topic is so sad that I can't bring myself to read it.

Thanks for the recommendations!

Depending upon what you prefer I can recommend quite a few books, authors, and series.
For example: Anne McCaffrey (Dragons of Pern Series), Tamora Pierce (all of her works are good), Anne Bishop, Christeen Feehan (her Carpathian vampire novels are good, large series thought), Laurell K. Hamilton (her Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series is a good one...large amount of smut scenes included ahemn), Robin Hobb ( I thought her mad ship series was good, but the soldier's son one sux), L.J.Smith (night world series, about supernatural world colliding with the normal one)... there are many more out there that I've read and can therefore recommend to others so if you need any more book related help or advise send me a pm.

Always happy to help

"Arabian Nights" is a classic that has Aladdin and so many other stories. Not Disney's Aladdin either; this is a kid who works for a foreigner with a ulterior motive that doesn't work for the King.

I'd support "It" by Stephen King as well. I'd only gone through half the book before I started looking for clowns and small rainjackets. It's much worse in the book, in comparison to the movie; Hollywood's usual effect of book-turned-movie. Stephen King actually didn't bring the movie down though in this one. On the chance you follow his work, a short read I'd also suggest "Thinner". The book plot is easy to recognize, but the ending was worth it.

*currently in silentgrace 7's possession. There were cookies. Good cookies. And a valentine.*

Took on last year pork pie..so scary. @.@
Personally,
The Road by Cormac McCarthy
and/or
Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom
I would recommend The Road because it has a deep meaning with every word written on each page. The bond between the father and son is heart warming even in the rough times they are facing.

I would recommend Tuesdays With Morrie because the amazing life lessons aquired within conclusion of the text.

But I personally would suggest The Road.

No, I am not a teacher nor do I endorse books. I have read these two books and loved them. I am a 17 year old high school student. smile

You might enjoy Slouching Towards Bethlehem by Joan Didion. I absolutely loved reading each and every essay in that book.

I would recommend:
As Simple As Snow by Gregory Galloway (a truly brilliant mystery)
A Million Little Pieces by James Frey (graphic but very moving)
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini (cannot recommend this one enough)
When Crickets Cry by Charles Martin (amazing is all I can say)
Just In Case by Meg Rosoff (really makes you think)
The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray by Chris Wooding (gothic supernaturalish Victorian/steampunk craziness well worth the read)
The Maximum Ride series by James Patterson is amazing until the middle of book 3 or so, it just kind of... the author stopped trying IMHO. Damn shame.
The Anne Rice book series The Vampire Chronicles is a classic for a reason, also recommend.

Also a special mention would be The Autobiography of Mark Twain edited by Charles Neider. Nonfiction, but It's one of my favorite books overall and it's really funny, too. You can get it on Amazon, the publisher is Harper Perennial Modern Classics, I think.

Well besides an obvious book like the Harry Potter series another book I find myself moved by is The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R Ward. The series is a romance vampire novel and I love it because it is based in upstate NY where I'm from and well it makes me hopeful there are men who are warrior's and men any women would want and need. The series pulls me in and makes me want to find a man (Which I have) like them who would treat me right.

Another book I adore is The Notebook. That book is so lovely and beautiful it makes my chest swell. Plus my grandparents had a love that deep. Sadly my grandpa is left here without his wing's. That book made me want to cry and broke me in a good way.

I'm going to second both Sagan's The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark and the Hunger Games trilogy.

I would recommend any of the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett, but a couple of good places to start would be Guards! Guards! or Wyrd Sisters. He also co-wrote Good Omens with Neil Gaiman, and that's another great read.
