View topic - Find a job is a job

I tried everything there is to find a job, I looked in newspapers, asked friends, checked the web, ect and nothing. This is not good for me and not for my dad also who is on my butt every day ask in over and over again if I found a job. I tell him the same thing but it doesn't stick to his head that no one where I live is hiring.
This sucks, the economy is going down hill very fast, companies are laying off people because they are trying to save a buck, hiring people that don't live in the USA, speak a different language to do the hard working jobs us people here in the USA can do, what is is this world coming to?
So how do you feel about this? Also for the record I'm not a raciest, I'm sick and tired of them taking all of the jobs away from us.

Yes it is not a pretty sight when owning a cat.
i completely understand, i'm having ALOT of trouble finding a job because of all the damn polish people! they've taken all the jobs.. they don't even bother learning to speak english, plus we have all the pakistarnies and other people of different cultures who dont bother learning the lingo :/

i agree with you i have ended up with just a babysitting jobs because even though some places are hiring you cant get any if you don't know Spanish! I'm not trying to be racist or anything but its highly annoying knowing the fact that i dont get call backs because i dont speak spanish. yes i know thats a reason they can not techinicly base hiring on but when i cant even get a job at mcdonadlds who will hire anyone thats really the only reason. Just because iv only had babysitting jobs doesnt mean i dont qualify any idiot can flip a burger and press buttons. I live near the mexico border but still i would learn spanish if i lived there so why cant people learn english if they live here. People that reufuse to learn english bug me because than places only want bilingual people for easy butt jobs like fast food

"He was probably the bravest man i ever knew"~Harry Potter, Deathly hallows
I had a really hard time finding a job after college but not because of illegal immigrants, or overseas workers, or anything like that. I had a BA, and everyone told me I was either under or overqualified for everything. They said they either wanted at least a masters or they said they didn't require that much college, so they thought the job was beneath me, that I would not stay there long, and that I wasn't worth training. I ended up tutoring for just a few hours a week and barely being able to pay my bills. I even lived without heat and hot water for a year... So my advice, get a masters. lol

I don't hate when citizens take our jobs, it's the illegals I have a problem with.

I have a job, thank god.

♔ Hello, Sugar. ♔
My dad tells me I aim too high when I am applying for a job...he thinks I should take a job at a Starbucks or other "entry-level" position while I am looking for one that is actually related to my college major. He does have a point that there always seem to be jobs in the service industry.

I think it is good to get a job that relates to your major whenever possible, looks better on a resume.

I have the exact same problem. Over here, in The Netherlands, there aren't too many jobs available. If there is a job, 99 to 100 is that I can't do it. I have a decease (Marfan syndrome) and because of that I can't do any jobs where it's cold or warm or requires a good fiscal condition. That doesn't leave many jobs around here.
My mother keeps asking me if I already found a job or if I know what I want to do with my life. My body got in a worse condition the last couple of months, so I try to figure out now what I like and can do at the same time.

no kidding. when people are like "They just take the jobs that americans think are below them" its total bullshit. With the job market the way it is the jobs should all be going to americans who are willing to take anything they can get to keep food on the table not people who hopped the border because they didn't want to get in the legal way. Those people take a pay check but don't contribute a damn thing back. I have no problem with legal immigrants but the illegals piss me off.

i tried to get summer job this year but it was just impossible.

Do you have ANY prior work experience? Or is this your first job?
Because if you have work experience then at least you could try for unemployment?
I've been on unemployment for far too long, but it helps with bills and rent.. So I'm not complaining..
Tho what I would normally be making bi-weekly, I'm making in a month.
But at least it's something, ya know?

I feel you tho. I've been trying to find a job ANYWHERE.
Try going to the mall.. Usually they're always looking for people there.
For the phone areas, or try call centers. Convergys, if you have that there, always hire.
I got a job there for a little while, it's for AT&T.. It was a great job, good pay..
But really freaking stressful.
