>>> 2/28/12 I keep forgetting to fill in the update's blurb, but we now have close to 30 trainers, and over 80 pokemon among them! The roleplay has been set up, we've reorganized our evolving methods and back files to make everything smoother, we've enjoyed a two part winter event, a valentine event, a mini Chinese New Year Event, and we're already working on an Easter event!

>>> 11/11/11 The Halloween event went well, we have several new additions, and a new employee soon to be announced. Planning a winter event as well as a Christmas event, though we may just roll these into one.

>>> 10/12/11 Pokedex is up and running, and Pokewalkers have been released.

>>> 9/25/11 First Auction and Flatsale have been posted, as well as mention of an upcoming Halloween event. Shop is officially open.
>>> 9/17/11 Started thread setup, super excited. :3

Hello there! Welcome to the world of pokémon! My name is ~coughcough~ ah hem, excuse me! Anyway, people call me the pokémon Professor! This world is inhabited by creatures called pokémon! For some people, pokémon are pets. Others use them for fights. Myself...I study pokémon as a profession.

On my recent travels I came across the islands of Ernya, and to my surprise, I've discovered that Platypus Island, just off the coast of Ernya, has a strange effect on the local pokemon! For some reason, they have been developing over the years with more and more human characteristics. To further study these changes, I have moved my lab here.

This is where you come in! I need able bodied trainers to raise these pokemon so I can study their development. Are you up for the task?

ROLEPLAY

Roleplay features are available with the purchase of a trainer card, located below in the shop, and will allow participation in both group and private roleplay. Roleplay participation helps with leveling, and allows access to some RP only pokemon and events.

The Roleplay board is linked in the first post, but is only available for posting with the purchase of a trainer card.

* Professor's artwork was done by the lovely Pinwheel. <3 Go shower her with praise!

The pokemon found on Ernya are special! Aside from evolving with human characteristics however, they are not too far off from the pokemon in our well known regions.

STAGES

Each pokemon has multiple stages. The first is simply the pokeball- whether you catch a pokemon, win it, or purchase it, it will be in a pokeball. From there, the pokemon will have one stage per evolution. Rarely, pokemon will be found in eggs, which are leveled the same way. Pokeballs that are wrapped as presents, usually found in events, will require a low post count to unwrap them.

EVOLUTION

Evolution can get a bit complicated, but hopefully this will help.

::: TIME STAMPS :::

  • Show Spoiler
  • Time stamps are periods of time you must wait out before evolving your pokemon. These cannot usually be avoided, however with purchases of evolutionary items, pokemon may sometimes evolve early.

    The time stamps are as follows, unless stated otherwise:

    Pokeballs - 1 Day From Receive Date
    Pokemon - 1 Week From Release Date
    Auto Evolve - 1 Month From Time Stamp Expiration

::: POSTING :::

  • Show Spoiler
  • Post counts are the most common way to evolve a pokemon. The post count is a number of posts you must reach in order to open your pokeball or evolve your pokemon before the auto-evolve that happens after 1 month. The post count can be found in the lower right of the pokemon's cert, and if it is met before the time stamp is up, the pokemon will evolve the day the time stamp expires.

::: STONES :::

  • Show Spoiler
  • Some pokemon require special stones to evolve, just like in the game. These stones can be found in the shop, and sometimes appear randomly in the thread or show up during events. These stones may only be used once, and once they are equipped to a pokemon, the are frozen there. If a pokemon is reverse-evolved, the stone will vanish and a new one must be purchased to re-evolve the pokemon.

    All of the stones and their abilities are listed in the shop post. Stones still use the time stamp system.

::: SPECIAL ITEMS :::

  • Show Spoiler
  • Some pokemon require special items in order to evolve, or require them to evolve into certain pokemon rather than others. These items work the same as stones, and are available in the shops.

::: NATURES / HAPPINESS LEVELS :::

  • Show Spoiler
  • Pokemon that normally require a certain nature will still require that nature to evolve, as well as the post count. Pokemon that require a certain level of happiness will require a higher post count, or 'presents' from the shop to make them happy. Presents only lower the post counts of pokemon that evolve via happiness.

::: TRADES / OTHER :::

  • Show Spoiler
  • Pokemon that require trades to evolve are a bit trickier, as some require straight across trades, and others must be traded with certain items. Pokemon that must be traded with certain items will simply require the item to get to that particular stage. If they have a stage that does not require an item (as their only evolution, or as an alternate) they will evolve upon trading, or with the purchase of a Growth Stone, which will evolve any pokemon no matter it's process or post count.

::: DETAILS :::

  • Show Spoiler
  • This section is currently empty, but will cover special cases and outline things more clearly as questions arise.

::: WHAT ABOUT SHINY POKEMON? WHAT ARE THEY?

A shiny pokemon is any pokemon that does not keep to the normal art styles of Dollottie and/or Eridan. This includes but is not limited to, full bodies that are not legendaries (a chibi legendary is considered shiny as well), guest art, color swaps, different styles, ect.

::: A QUICK SUMMARY :::

Pokemon evolve pretty much the same as they do in games. Experience points are replaced with post counts, so posting = training. Shop items provide for other means of evolution such as stones or trading.

Evolution includes one egg or pokeball stage, and then each additional stage of the pokemon's evolutionary chain, as dictated by the items they are able to use.

Pokemon need two methods to evolve: A post count or an item, and their time stamp. Time stamps are 24hours for the ball/egg stage, and one week per evolution after that. All pokemon auto evolve after one month, regardless of post count. Pokemon that need additional methods are exceptions to this.

Legendaries have high post counts.

I think that covers everything.

Trainers are, in short, you! Anyone who owns a pokemon is a trainer.

You do not need anything special to be a trainer, other than a pokemon, however if you wish to use those pokemon in roleplays for leveling, you must purchase a trainer card. Sort of like a driver's liscense, a trainer card is something of a permit for roleplaying that will feature your image and some information about you.

There are two different kinds of trainer cards.

TRAINER CARD

The trainer card features an avie of your choice, and your username. They're very simple cards that simply give you the ability to roleplay.

These cards are 1K, and always available, simply fill out the form below and pm it to Shaymin. One per user only!

THIS FORM AND A LABLED TRADE FOR 1K MUST BE SENT TO SHAYMIN.

  • TRAINER CARD FORM:

    Username:
    Avatar: (you MUST upload your own image)
    "I have read the rules and by purchasing this card I am agreeing to them.
    I understand this card may be revoked if I fail to follow the rules."

CHARACTER TRAINER CARD

The CTC, or, character trainer card is designed for roleplaying and features a space for either art, a full avatar, or any other image. This allows you to create a trainer card specific to a trainer character, and offers some information about your trainer.

These cards are 2k each, and you may own up to five- allowing you multiple trainer characters for roleplay. Fill out the form below to purchase.
You MUST MUST MUST already have a trainer card to purchase a character trainer card.

THIS FORM AND A LABLED TRADE FOR 2K MUST BE SENT TO SHAYMIN.

    Username:
    Character Name:

    Character Gender:
    Character Bio:

So, obviously if you're still reading, you must want one- the question now is how to go about getting one. There are 5 different ways to obtain a pet. Each is linked in a spoiler.

FLATSALES
  • Show Spoiler

  • Flatsales will offer around three pets at a time, at 5k each, on a first come first serve basis. The pets will be posted up in their pokeballs, and a time will be set. At that time, anyone interested posts which pokemon they want. The user MUST have 5k at the ready or the pet will be sold to someone else who does. These pets are first come first serve to who ever claims them first, after the determined start time. In the event that someone claims the pet and is unable to pay, the pet will be put up again and sold to someone who can pay.

    Flat sale pets are generally common pokemon.

NEXT ANTICIPATED FLAT SALE: Easter!

AUCTIONS

  • Show Spoiler
  • Auctions will usually have either only one pet, or a set of pets- example, a massive Eevee auction. The duration of the auction, minimum bid increase, and what not will all be set, and users will be able to bid on pets during the allotted time. Auction pets begin at 5k minimum bid, and are generally rare, special, or very popular pokemon.

NEXT ANTICIPATED AUCTION: Easter!

EVENTS

  • Show Spoiler
  • Events can feature any of the other means of obtaining a pet, but generally also have games or contests. These pets usually follow a theme, and may be rare or special. Events may happen around holidays, or with Ernya events.

NEXT ANTICIPATED EVENT: Easter!

WILD

  • Show Spoiler
  • Wild pokemon are attracted to activity and may randomly appear in the thread when it becomes particularly active. To catch a wild pokemon, simply quote the post it appears in with the word 'Pokeball!' The first to quote the post gets the pet. You will not always know what pokemon you are catching. To be fair to other users, you may not catch two wild pokemon in a row, nor may you catch a wild pokemon during an auction if you are bidding for the auction pet, or if you have just won a flatsale pet. The idea behind wild pokemon is to allow users who have not obtained a pokemon or who do not have the gold to participate in a flat sale or auction to be able to obtain a pokemon of their own.

    A wild pokemon will be a pokemon you would generally find in tall grass, water, caves, ect.

WHEN CATCHING A WILD POKEMON YOU MUST POST SOMETHING IN THE QUOTE POST SO THAT IT IS NOT SPAM!!!

NEXT ANTICIPATED WILD POKEMON: Wild pokemon cannot be anticipated, they are random, but seem to appear when the thread is busy.

CUSTOMS
  • Show Spoiler

  • Customs are rare and often not available. When customs do open, you are welcome to submit the form, however some pokemon may not be purchased this way. Cost depends on the pokemon, the difficulty, and how much you're willing to offer. These slots are available on a bribe only basis.

NEXT ANTICIPATED CUSTOM AVAILABILITY: Currently not available.
