I say it's not--if you decide to drink, you (hopefully) know that it impairs judgment. Therefore, I don't think being drunk is ANY excuse or reason for cheating, because you have chosen to put yourself in a judgment-impairing situation. Frankly, I think it's a cop-out.

Unless you're so shitfaced drunk that you completely black out, you generally have an idea of what's going on (I have been pretty goddamn drunk in my time) and therefore CAN say "No" and remove yourself from the situation by whatever means possible. If you make the choice to cheat while you're drunk, I don't think you can really say it was an accident or use that as an excuse because hey--you decided to drink in the first place. You might be impaired in some way, but no one really forced you to drink OR to cheat. Just my thoughts on the subject.

However, I'd like to hear from others on this topic--do you think being drunk is any excuse at all for cheating?

You took a lot of the words right out of my mouth. While I can understand various circumstances, there really is no excuse for cheating (even if one is drunk). Call me judgmental for my belief, but that scenario is preventable.

If you don't understand statistics, you're a dumbass
If you can't stand criticism, get out ma face
MMORPG = Many Men Online RolePlaying Girls.
if you can say no, then it's cheating.
if you can't say no and it happens anyways, it was probably rape.

that's my view of things, anyways.

there is no excuse for cheating, because cheating is completely and wholly elective.

Absolutely not. There's NO excuse for cheating.

No, easy. Unless you're unconscious, you can always say no, even when blind drunk. If you don't say no, it's not because you're drunk, it's because you realise that you can use it as an excuse.

I think of it as an excuse, but not a valid one.
They can make the excuse, but I have my right to tell them to fuck themselves. Right?

Exactly. An excuse isn't always a good explanation, more of a distraction from the actual topic.

I've never been afraid of the wildest fights, not afraid of dying
But now I want off this ride 'cause you're scaring me and I don't like where we're going

        Easy. No.
They are still have somewhat of a judgement even when drunk and they make their choices.
Using that as an excuse is just stooping too damn low.
Not to mention how it's invalid. :l

This.

If you have sex while innebriated, it depends on your level of inebriation. If you are incapable of defending yourself or saying no, someone took advantage of you and that bit's not your fault. But you should probably avoid getting THAT wasted.

It's a bullshit excuse.

I pretty much agree with everyone else. As long as you're not blackout drunk/totally incapacitated, you're still responsible for your actions.

No being drunk isnt an excuse for anything. If you know how you are when you are drinking then you are putting yourself in that situation.

Being shizzfaced is not an excuse. Id dump anyone who tried using that.

I'd have to agree with just about everyone here. Being drunk isn't a valid reason to cheat, neither is being really far away, or being angry. There's no reason that someone can have that would give them a reason to have consensual sex with someone other than their significant other.

I've been drunk enough to be seduced against my will. I couldn't find it in me to stop a girl from kissing me, even though I already had someone else. I told her to stop and she said no and kept kissing at my neck, I kissed back, I don't even know why... but when things started to get really serious, it all snapped together and I made her stop. I don't care how drunk you are, there's always a point at which you know what you're doing and know that it's wrong.

It may have ended my relationship, and at the time I regretted not cheating since things went sour anyway, but in hindsight I'm glad I stayed (mostly) honest.... hell, that's the most honest I've ever been able to be. ><

Absolutely not... EVER... if you can't trust yourself or can't be trusted when you drink then you shouldn't be drinking...
