Yeah, that is really the only thing that bothers me.
Rules broken can be easily reported and fixed, that not so much.
I haven't noticed the necro-ing. But as for the rest of it. Yeah. I can't stand people that don't capitalize things, or the text talk. That's more annoying then anything to me.
Just remember, if it wasn't for new people, you wouldn't have a site to post on. Small or large in the grand scheme/picture of things, all sites need new blood at some point or another.
Generalizing the new users and only pointing out their flaws isn't going to make people want to come here or stay here. Last time there were advertisements a bunch of the people who were already here chased off a bunch of newbies with their behavior. As far as I'm concerned, we have people here who are far worse than some of the new folks. People seem to forget kindness and maturity when unfamiliarity is thrust upon them.
That said, it's only a few people on both sides of the spectrum that act like asshats and not the majority. So it's nothing to worry about in all honesty.
I totally necro'd a few threads in my first week here.. and I know better than to necro. It's just that, coming from Gaia, you don't realize just HOW slow some forums/subforums here really are, you figure anything on the first page is fair game. So I can understand thread necro'ing... your first few days, you're excited, you want to post EVERYWHERE, and unless you're in the BS, the forums don't really keep up with you all that well.
Newbies tend to learn the ropes really quickly if they come from another avatar site, though.. tektek ads are significantly better than, say, ads on WoW would be. Besides, I like new people. They're easier to talk to sometimes.
They may be inexperienced now, but they'll eventually get the hang of things. It was a pretty big culture shock for me when I joined the site in 09 (from a tektek ad as well), since the community was so closely knit, and as well as that, "you actually earn money from talking!" so I can't even count the number of toes I may have stepped on to get used to everything. I know I necro'd a few threads during that time, 'cause I was way too awkward to really respond to anyone or start a thread, but everyone was really patient with me when I made mistakes, and I was approached about it by forum regs without any hostility, so it ended up encouraging me to be more wary of things and meet the site's expectations, I guess.
I think this kind of thing is natural for a site like ernya, and while it may not be good, it's not really bad.
Some of them don't realise, they're from Gaia and the rules there don't seem as strict. The best thing to do is report it so that they receive a warning and are made aware of their mistake. I doubt the bad ones will stay, though. Out of all the new people probably only about 10% will stay and be worthwhile members.
D; I'm new myself, a week or two before the influx, and noticed how different some newbs are compared to the other newbs who joined not through tektek but returning.
I'm... uh... inclined to think this wasn't such a good herd of newbies.

I've read the rules nicely, plus when it comes to being a newbie on a site,I don't present myself the way most do.I might make a newbie thread for the kick, but then I'll start joining conversations that seem approachable and start making an avatar. So far things have been nice c:
Some people don't read rules/too familiar with Gaia's rules. That isn't bad, you just tell them nicely and if they keep doing it, report it and let the mods handle it.
I've seen people who been here forever break rules all the time, you know, one word posts. I find that more annoying than text speak.
It happens everytime we have an influx. The LALALALOLSORANDUMB noobs soon forget about the forum and go elsewhere, the newbies who want to contribute to the community stay and we grow.
