We are the light to reach this world
We are the salt preserving souls
Let´s show them the love that we´ve received now

We are, we are in desperation
We need to reach this generation
We are speaking louder than before
I would suggest to you Eflien Lied, I loved the story line and it's only thirteen episodes. I'm not too sure what else is out there. There is Vampire Knight but I haven't had the chance to sit down and watch the full series I only read the Manga so I don't have much of an opinion of it.

I also recommend Ouran High School Host Club. It's funny and sweet, with just a little bit of drama to keep it on it's toes. It's not super long, the manga is longer, but it ends at a good spot.

I really liked Trigun, Hellsing, Witch Hunter Robin and .hack//sign. Oh, and Hikaru no Go. That is, if you feel like watching 200 episodes about playing Go. XD

Hug me and i am yours.

*^_^*
Not sure if it'd hit your specific interests, since it's much slower and such, but one of the few Anime I would still suggest now that my bigger interest of Anime as such has ebbed out is Mushishi.
It's slow, yes, but also very beautiful in it's imagery and has some interesting themes. Also relatively few episodes as far as I'm aware.
