Same here, I tend to be the quiet on in class. Usually it is because of my paranoid-ness and I feel uncomfortable with other people. However there are days/times that I can get really talkitive and silly where I usually set myself up for bad jokes. lol. 
But those days usually come once a year. Last month was that once-a-year-day and I had my whole SPanish 2 class laughing like crazy. 
I was calling myself the sit down comedian.

I'm usually pretty chatty online, and it's a lot easier for me to write/type things out than to say them. Sometimes I have trouble deciding how I want to word things, though. So, I sit here saying to myself "does this make sense? Does it sound stupid?" and sometimes I just end up wrestling with it for an outrageously long time and then not posting at all, haha.

Lol, actually the same thing happens with me. Usually when I am quiet I am thinking of design ideas or writing ideas.

I get that way too. I get shy, I get paranoid, I get positive my contribution won't be wanted. And then sometimes I just get silly and hyper and everything seems to click and I go all interactive. But usually I'm just quietly moping and trying not to engage because when I do people always seem like I'm being desperate for someone to talk to.
Well, sometimes maybe I am.
I wish my fiancee would answer already so that I could know which days he has off so that we can spend Valentine's Day together.

My dad doesn't have a funny bone. And I'm not sure if my mum likes it, though I know she likes dry humor.
But I seem to like most forms of comedy except slap-stick.

Yesss same here.
I often joke about drowning in a river and it really bugs people. I'm not suicidal or anything, I just really like saying "this sucks, drowning self in river bye" etc.
I definitely have a dark sense of humor too.
