Posting far outweighs playing games on Ernya, that's for sure.
...So, I'd say posting would be the fastest way, in multiple threads, with people who are interesting to talk to.
...You could play the Exchange, I guess, but I don't know, it's not really a failsafe, and not everyone has the same opinion about it. o uo
You can also take the obvious way out and donate. :'D
P.S. If you count the chance part of it, contests are the BEST way to get gold, I think. But they don't guarantee anything either ~

Posting is, by far, the quickest and easiest method of earning gold. A decent length post (the one I'm typing right now, for example) will get you 30 gold each time.
Definitely posting. The amount of gold you get on Ernya for one post is ridiculously high in comparison to other forum sites. :P Art shops can net quite a lot of profit too, if you're any good.

After that would be Tetris and Brick Works, the other two games don't give out as much gold.
If you have some real money, you could always donate and sell hearts/items you buy.
If you have artistic ability (graphics, drawing, pixels, etc) you could open a shop and sell them.

I finially moved to the UK! Not sure how active I will be yet, though. Have a few laptop fixes to be done.
