Evolution should absolutely always be taught in schools, it's irrefutable. It can be observed up to this day. It's a slow process but we can observe it.

I don't know. I believe that humans and animals came to magically be when the giant white hand of God came out of the sky and put them on earth. And dinosaurs didn't exist. It's just a myth. Things don't evolve, they spontaneously appear through MAGIC :D
Evolution IS taught in schools. I learned about it in high school, and again in college. Evolution absolutely exists, and is a crucial part of science. You can't just leave it out because some people don't believe in it. It's like not believing in gravity. o__O;;
That being said, everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and I firmly support that freedom as well.
actually to the person who just said evolution is taught in schools ( which i believe it should be taught) i know of some schools that don't teach it in schools.
sorry that my phrasing is bad but i think its great that people think that evolution should be taught in schools cause i have never seen any evidence to prove evolution wrong.
Evolution is the strongest theory in its scientific field, and needs to be understood so that it can be critically developed or, if it would be, refuted or replaced by the pursuit of knowledge that is scientific method.
Refusing to teach evolution because it apparently conflicts with certain religions that by far not even all students are a part of, is unconstitutional in America, and here in Australia.
I'm deeply ashamed of America for forgetting its foundation of separation of church and state. Many founding fathers were atheists, and it didn't matter. But now some would have you believe that being a patriotic American comes with being God-fearing, which is bullshit. Being American originally meant being allowed to believe whatever you believed, not what someone else thought you should. This is why I cringe when I see fundamentalists trying to control what state schools teach their students.
Schools teach science; refusing to teach evolution would be like refusing to teach the theories of gravity or electromagnetism.
If the literal interpretation of the Bible is really to dictate what all public schoolkids are taught, they should rally also for teaching the "alternative theory" (another flat denial in place of a developed hypothesis) that the earth is a flat surface with hell below and heaven above, not a globe orbiting the sun.
There is nothing wrong with it being taught as a learning factor to expand your knowledge of the world and some people's beliefs as to how we came to be. As long as it is not overly forced upon students, and it is not even in the slightest trying to force itself as a belief on the students, then it is fine for open minded study.
I think it is a belief that is based around facts. But still it is a belief.
The only way to know how we truly came to be is to try to find the answers out after we die, and even then there is not exact certainty of that.

Except for the fact that we can observe evolution in a petri dish with bacteria. It's a fact.

I completely believe in evolution and think it should be taught in schools.
I, however, do NOT believe we evolved from monkeys or fish and will keep this opinion until there
is 100% proof of it and not some "missing link" that we have yet to truly find.
I believe God created us through evolution, not just a "poof here you are" type of thing.
