View topic - Christians. So forceful.

Why do Christians always feel they have to push their religion on others, despite the fact it's suppose to be a choice?

I was watching a church gathering with a few thousand people. They believed it was their job to get out into the world and make everyone believe in god and Jesus and all that jazz. Why do Christians feel the need to do this?

If you're forced to believe in god, you pretty much don't believe in god, it's a mockery of god. You're not a good Christian if you're force people to convert.

That's interesting. Christians were suppose to show people the path toward salvation last time I read the good book. It is suppose to be the individual's choice whether to walk it or not.

I dont get why any group of people would feel the need to convert someone. Like people dont know other religions exist if they wanted to find one @_@

I think it's a natural process of wanting to make your religous family larger. A true christian doesn't force their religious views on others, but a true christian's duty is spread the good news of what they know to other christians and non christians. What people do after receiving the message is all up to them.

I understand it pretty well from living it. It's similar to watching someone eating blowfish sashimi and you know that it is potentially poisonous. You may not want that person to harm themselves so you tell them that it is potentially poisonous in hopes that they do not eat it. I know it's a bad analogy for a variety of reasons, but that should explain why some people want to spread their religion.

yes, it's suppose to be the individuals choice but i don't think it's someone choice when they're constantly being berated with Christian ideals. Going by your signature you're not a good Christian. No good Christian would enjoy the joke of that signature.

I gave up Christianity because I felt it restricted me from what I needed: an genuine understanding of people and why they do the things they do. I can now say that I have grew more after leaving the religion than I would have if I remained with it. That's not to say I don't believe in God, but I don't believe in the confines of religions.

So you find it okay to laugh at someone killing themselves?

Her signature is a joke about the car and how sturdy it is, and how it saved thousands of innocent people from being blown up like the person in the car. Stop attacking people and get back on subject.

Saying all Christians are like that is a major stereotype. Not ALL Christians are like that. I know many people who are Christian and respect others' religious values and choices.

Oh, and inb4 "You don't seem like a good Christian, either."

nope. I laugh at how his plot failed, not the fact that someone killed themselves or what group was portrayed in the commercial.

Eh, I'm kind of divided on this issue. I know a lot of Christians who try to convert me (I'm agnostic), but I know a lot who are respectful of my choice and keep religion out of our conversations.

I'm rolling with Cherry here. It's a Christian's job to spread the gospel to all who would receive it. Also, I implore you to name one religion that has not done so in some form or another?

I don't think your statement should be limited to/generalized.
I've met some wonderful non-pushy christians, mainly my family and friends, and I've also met some people of other religions be very pushy. I've lost friends for not conforming, as well.

♔ Hello, Sugar. ♔
Not all christians are pushy. You probably know a lot more christians than you know.

The thing is, it doesn't matter what religion people are, you're going to meet the same kinds of people. I've met just as many atheists that push their belief's on christians or other religious people.

A religion is like a penis.
You can be proud of it and everything but you just don't whip it out in public and try to stuff it down people's throats.

I'm sure even the Christians understand that.
What they are doing is more like, hardcore persuasion attack.
You are still the one making the choice of whether to convert or not.
        You are not forced.
And therefore no mockery of God in here.

        'Nuff said. :/
