View topic - Calling out to Oldies of Gaiaonline
I have had an account on there for about...7 years I suppose. Though I have been inactive for at least half this year and probably another year somewhere in there. I am basically using this to vent. I used to be very supported of whatever gaia did, I even over looked a lot of the users ...issues...but It feels like to me..that they just simply lost interest in the site, that they have grown bored with it. The latest event..is interesting from what I have seen but in the last few its been half assed and lazy. The user base..oh god don't get me started on them...there are 14 year olds on this site more mature than the older people on there I swear.
SO what has caused you to leave the site? If you haven't left what keeps you there? Which would you rather spend your time on there or on this site?

I think I joined in 2004 but I can't remember for certain. I used to be seriously addicted but a lot of my friends quit and then it got boring. There is so much spam you can't find a decent place to talk sometimes, they only seem to update the cash shop these days, stuff is really expensive now even though it's a bit easier to make gold. I still like the site a lot but I miss the old days when my friends were active.
Ahh, Gaia. It did have some good memories. I was a member up until about early 2010, I believe. Then I had posted my final goodbye on my profile, I had been a member since 2003. However, I had a couple of pretty lengthy hiatuses from the site. Most of the friends I had made on there during those earlier years had left and I had just simply lost interest. I moved onto other communities and found I liked things better than Gaia.
So, essentially, the simple loss of interest caused me to leave. No one to really talk to that I got along with, items simply didn't interest me so much either, messing around with my avatar didn't really feel all that fun anymore. Perhaps, I just had been there for too long and therefore 'grew up'. :P
But, I do miss the friends I had on there. It was a pretty fun lot to talk to. So, it's a shame that they really aren't around anymore.

Yeah the userbase just got to me in the end. Couldn't even have a coherent conversation, even less than when I spoke to an old lady in an old home whose memory last 5 seconds.

I mainly RPed on there and once in awhile went to different discussion boards.
Eh...I lost interest in it for like years. I just go there to lurk at the cosplay section because cosplay/crossplay is a hobby of mine though. The last time I actually wrote something...I got flamed by someone who is a flamer...as in the only thing they do on Gaia is flame others.
Too much immaturity and rudeness there.

I joined in 2005 but wasn't really active until 2006. Just this past year I started losing interest thanks to their summer event. It seems like they just don't care about their userbase anymore which ends up the users not caring either.

I have been on Gaia since 2005. I don't usually participate in the events there or play the games. I haven't bought anything in a long time, and I never check the general forums. But I do check in on my guilds a few times a day.
I had joined Gaia either in very late 03 or early 04, can't remember. It was decently near the start of the site though, and I loved it for a while, but I left back in 08ish due to the userbase being full of idiots and people spamming my account with too many scammer messages. Bleh.
The only thing that keeps me on Gaia on a daily basis is the guild I post in. I don't post in the forums, I don't play games. Just the Literate Spam Guild. If I hadn't joined that place, I'd have quit probably in late 05 or early 06.

But I have tons of friends there, I met my fricking boyfriend there (he lives with me now xD) and a lot of the members call me 'Auntie Xippy' because I'm older than most of them, and watched a good deal of them grow up. They were all young teens in middle or highschool when I joined. Now 6 years later, they're all graduating high school and some are even graduating college, some got married, and some have kids now.
That is really the absolute only thing that keeps me on that site.

I joined in '06 because my really close friend told me to join. I generally had a great time, but with all the trolls and elitist showing up, I got bored fast. I tend stayed off of avatar sites for a while, getting on Gaia to talk to some of my friends I had made, but hey soon left as well. After that, I got banned for absolutely no reason, as I never posted in the forums. :/ I made a couple of accounts after that... but it's never been the same as it was when I first joined.
