I don't care how pretty you are. If you don't have a plot you might as well just be a visual orgy and cease grouping yourself together with things that have stories in them...

Words exist because of meaning. Once you've gotten the meaning, you can forget the words. Where can I find a man who has forgotten words so I can talk with him? ~Chuang Tzu

I think the plot, the art, and personalities of the characters is what creates improvement to an anime/manga.

well of course plot is very important to any manga/anime series, but if the art and style is not as eye catching as the sound of the plot then the series may go nowhere, you also need good plot execution as well as character development and design. so there isnt just one thing that is important but many things.

drawings for sure, if I dislike the artwork, I won't read it at all. visuals are important in manga. With anime it's different because its verbal, but if the artwork is ugly I still won't read it.

well of course there should be a plot and all but i really like an anime when they have good character personalities and voices to go with it. after that, i like the drawings o3o

Hm, I think character development is important.

It is all fine and good for a character to be flat with one dimension or two so long as they become rich in personality along the way.

I mean, I want to be able to relate to at least one character in whatever I am reading, watching, or playing.

Too many characters are sooooo unrealistic...but I guess that is the point. -shrugs-

I would be able to deal with crappy plots and other crappy aspects of an anime so long as I can relate to a character or two...or enjoy a character or two.

The plot.
I think that 'art' is often subjective. My favourite mangas 'Complex' (the gay, not really yaoi, slice of life) and 'Monster' didn't have what would usually be considered the best artstyle but it fit perfectly with the tone and plot.

DeviantArt Gallery
there is no most important
because if it's not well rounded it's not good

it needs to be able to attract people with its beauty
then keep interest with plot
and swerve emotions in people by making them relate to the characters

that could be just me but I strongly believe in what I wrote

I think plot is most important because if a story is going to last it needs a good plot. It can't have something too generic. I believe that it's legitimately difficult to come up with a plot no one has heard of, and I can accept that. But I am okay as long as the plot has a few things that are purely unique.

The plot. It doesn't matter if your drawing looks more like a cat scratched it out, if you have a good plot, then you're pretty much set. However, that doesn't mean the other aspects aren't just as important, because if you have a good plot but don't know how to deliver it and make it marketable or if you can't play with expressions accurately, then you won't get very far. Although the art is also important, it's not a deal breaker to me.

So, it's really a mix of all of these points, but the plot is fundamental. The foundation of any good manga or anime, is the plot. Everything else comes after this.
