I have a copy of both of the versions of anime, though I have to say that i like Brotherhood a hell of a lot more.

I've been following the manga more and I personally like it a lot better than the original anime. The original anime was okay, though I haven't sat down to watch the whole thing yet. I do have to say, however, that it ended way sooner than it should have, as it had a lot of potential.

Haven't really gotten around to Brotherhood yet, but I did see the first episode or two via YouTube and was kinda 'meh' about it.

Zaine, you definitely need to watch it all the way through, one or the other. If you hop between the two series, you will get SO CONFUSED. eek

The characters and the universe are the same, but the plots are very different the more episodes you watch. Personally, I think "Brotherhood" was darker. Fullmetal Alchemist came out first, then they made Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. They also made a movie to take place after the first series. I'm really hoping for another movie to follow the ending of Brotherhood.

When I originally watched FMA (the original) I loved it. However, after I read the manga, and saw how different it was from the manga I started to dislike it (in the sense that it didn't follow the story so well). Still a great Anime, though.
